Peter Beales Roses win Gold AGAIN at the 2009 RHS Chelsea Flower Show!

June 03, 2009

We are very happy to be able to announce that we have won a gold medal at this years Chelsea flower show for 'a collection of roses'. The stand was based around a large summer house (from Taylor’s Garden Buildings) draped in sumptuous blooms large and small surrounded by four arches covered in many different varieties of rose, with a barked footpath through the rose garden.

This excellent news follows a very successful day yesterday (May 18th - Chelsea Flower Show Press Day) where we launched three new roses to the public.

Penny Lancaster and Rod Stewart introduced the rose 'Highgrove' to the world at 11:30am amidst a flurry of press and fans on the stand. This rose was introduced for His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and the Highgrove Estate and is a colourful, red, citrus scented, modern climber.

Later in the afternoon Her Majesty The Queen, His Royal Highness Prince Charles, The Duchess of Cornwall and Her Royal Highness Princess Anne were all introduced to the new "Highgrove" rose and we were pleased to see that they thought it was fantastic.

Many celebrities posed for photographs with the new, scented, yellow, hybrid tea, shrub rose "Grosvenor House" including Rolf Harris, Joanna Lumly and the famous milliner Cozmo Jenks who was introducing a new specially commissioned hat themed around the rose for Grosvenor House.

The new rose "Weavers Way", a pink, large flowered hybrid tea was received well.  The rose was dedicated to Helenaie Brierly who walked the length of "The Weavers Way" footpath in Norfolk while in remission from cancer. Many people commented on the heroism of her money raising charity walk.
