Billy Styles - OPH president, and Alan Talbert - OPH Vice President, attend events in New York for the Great Rosarians of The World annual east coast ceremonies.

The 2009 honorees are Stephen Scanniello and Marilyn Wellan, both rosarians of note for their individual contributions to the rose world.  The event features discussions on easy garden roses and creating sustainability in the rose garden.  The honorees will also be on hand to speak about their fascination with roses, current projects and future endeavors.  Stephen Scanniello will speak on "Old Garden Roses" and Marilyn Wellan will speak on "Modern Roses". 

The events occur over 3 days starting on Thursday, June 4th with a reception at Pat Shanley's home on Long Island, NY.  Pat Shanley is the president of the Manhattan Rose Society and a huge fan of OPH and the Peter Beales Complete Natural Rose Care (TM) products.  Friday Billy and Alan will attend a reception at the New York Horitultural Society, (known simply as The Hort) followed by another reception and dinner at Opia, a fantastic restaurant located in Hotel 57 in midtown, NY.  The dinner honors Stephen and Marilyn and their contribution.

The events culminate on Saturday, June 6th with a day-long meeting of great rose minds discussing the current state of roses in the USA and Europe.
