"BOPM", as wel call it, contains the best of what you would expect to see:  Bark Fines, Compost, Pure Worm Castings, Leaf Litter, etc. that perform the typical work of a planting mix - opening up the soil to allow for root expansion and creating easy pathways for water and nutrient penetration.  But BOPM has so much more going for it.

This great product also contains Humic & Fulvic Acids.  These are organic acids that provide great benefit for the soil and for the plant.  Humic Acid promotes soil crumbling and eases soil compaction and also increases nutrient chelation and cationic exchange capacity, which increases the availability of nutrients bound in the soil.  Fulvic Acid increases the efficiency with which the plants process these nutrients.  These organic acids do a great job of improving overall plant performance, both below the soil and above it!

Lastly, Billy's Organic Planting Mix™ contains naturally occuring fungi to maximize water and nutrient availability for the plant and to protect the plant against soil borne disease.  Endo & Ecto Mycorrhizal fungi form a symbiotic relationship with plant roots where the roots give the fungi sugar and carbohydrates and the fungi send out thousands of tendrils that bring back water and nutrients from far outside the root zone.  Trichoderma, (sometimes spelled Trychoderma) is another fungi included that protects the root system from soil borne disease.
